My research deals with the Geology of Mineral Deposits, and has essentially been focused on the metallogeny of Mexico at any scales, with especial emphasis on epithermal deposits, but also skarn, porphyry copper, IOCG, VMS, and MVT, among several others. The deposits I have studied are mostly associated to the Sierra Madre Occidental silicic large igneous province and neighboring areas. My main working tools are Mineralogy, Fluid Inclusion Petrography and Microthermometry, and the geochemical characteristics of both minerals and fluids, which includes stable isotopes. Their use allows the study of fluids in other geological disciplines, as Petroleum Geology and Structural Geology. Also, I am interested in the Petrogenesis and Geochronology of rock assemblages applied to the origin and evolution of ore deposits.

In addition, I have been the editor-in-chief of the Boletín de la Sociedad Geológica Mexicana (included in the Thomson-Reuter’s Web of Science) for over ten years hitherto, and am also in charge of the Springer Briefs in World Mineral Deposits.
