Her PhD research dealed with the mineralogy and mineral chemistry of Ni-bearing Mg-phyllosilicates (so-called garnierites) from the Ni-laterite deposit of Falcondo, in central Dominican Republic, analysed by means of powder X-ray diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy, electron microprobe, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. She is now involved in the study of the mineralogy and geochemistry of bauxites from Bahoruco peninsula, southern Dominican Republic. Formerly, she worked on Ti-Fe-V oxide deposits associated with anorthositic rocks in Angola.
